One Thing Wednesday: Vita-Mix



I’ve been loving our new Vita-Mix.  Breakfast this morning was a banana, frozen strawberries, flax seed, rice milk, and a big handful of spinach.  I love that I can just throw everything in at once, and it comes out creamy.  No pre-grinding the flax seeds, no chunks of spinach to drink.  Just pure awesomeness.

    • I used to think that people who had Vita-Mix’s were crazy for talking about them so much. I mean, it’s just a blender, right? Oh how wrong I was!

      Any favourite Vita-Mix “recipes”?

      • Well, my daily breakfast includes arbourne (?) vanilla protein powder (vegan), water, ice, frozen banana, frozen pineapple and fresh mint. AMAZING! Sometimes kale and spirulina powder added…I’ll have to post some recipes on that vegan girl in sneakers…too many!

    Same – it’s my favorite appliance, with the rice cooker being a close second 🙂 Costco is selling big bags of frozen mango now, so I’m obsessed with mango-green smoothies, with a little ginger and celery.

    • I haven’t picked up frozen mangoes there yet, but I have been devouring Costco bags of frozen pineapple. Banana, pineapple, and a little bit of coconut oil has been my go-to lately (although I ran out of pineapple, and had to resort to the frozen strawberries yesterday). Never would have thought to add celery to my smoothies.

        Mmm, might have to try pineapple too! Love celery in the smoothie – very hydrating and apparently good for reducing inflammation too! (if you buy into that…)

    I’ve been using my Vitamix 7500 for the past year and have to say I don’t think I could live without it. I love the fact that I’m able to just toss in a few fruits, vegetables, and some water and have a delicious smoothie in seconds.

Just made another amazing one: vanilla almond milk, handful kale (or more), handful spinach, hemp seeds, chia seeds, a tablespoon maple syrup (optional), 1 tsp spirulina, 1/2 tsp macca powder (optional), frozen banana and two fresh peaches. You could probably add vanilla protein powder for added protein/added vanilla flavor.
