Our New Vitamix!

We were generously gifted with a Vitamix blender this weekend. I had no idea a two horsepower blender even existed!

I know what I want to use it for, but I’m also looking for other recipes and suggestions on what to make in the Vitamix. Those of you that have one, what do you make in it?

  1. I am ridiculously jealous! I want a Vitamix so, so badly but can’t afford one right now… sigh. Enjoy it!

  2. Brittany says:

My favorite appliance, well worth it! Smoothies, smoothies, smoothies… use a base of 1c liq (milk or coconut water), 1/2-1 scoop protein powder, 1/2-1 frozen banana + other frozen fruit/berries. From there I add any of the following depending on my mood: greens, carrot, celery, flax seed, chia seed, cocoa powder, ice… the list goes on! For a more substantial smoothie, soaked oats are good. For a thick, creamy one, avo or coconut milk. I also use it to grind flaxseed meal and make oat flour, etc.

  3. tlsylvan says:

Ohhh I’m so jealous! My parents have one and I’m always tempted to steal it while they sleep when I go visit. My mom uses it to make soups, smoothies, rice flour, almond flour, almond milk, ice cream-y things…

  4. ive been looking around for one… for a while…Are they really that much better than standard blenders?

    • I keep hearing people say that the “Vitamix has changed my life.” I’m not to that point yet – all I’ve made is a banana soft-serve concoction (which was awesome). I’ve been traveling the last few days, but fully intend to put it through its paces this weekend. I’m sure I’ll write more about it once I’ve made some more things.
